Singapore Best Mutton Soup @ Upper Boon Keng

My favorite mutton soup, whether is it chinese or indian style, i love them both!

I was reading i-weekly and found this Best Mutton Soup in Singapore! I used to visit a stall at Toa Payoh to satisfy my cravings, but now i found a even better one!

Haji M. Abdul Rajak Stall @ Upper Boon Keng Market

IMG_0238

saw that? The best & famous mutton soup in Singapore since 1955!!! oh my tian! that day when i visited this stall, i was all excited! plus it is raining heavily! God is really kind to me ya? haahaahaa…

As usual, i can’t make up my mind which part of the meat should i chose… and yes i end up with their mixed soup! Everything in one bowl!

First thing that welcomes me was this!

IMG_0236

yummy bread to soak up the soup! woohoo! my tummy was growling and my heart was beating so fast!!!! yayyyyy!!! If the bread is crispy and hot from oven, it would be PERFECT!

Next up the 主角!!!!

IMG_0240

woohoo! first thing first, drink the soup! i love the soup! IT IS THICK without any ‘yang sao wei’… Many stalls try to cover up the ‘yang sao wei’ by adding a lot of fried onion! But this stall really ‘wu liao’ (hokkien = got real kongfu)! once you drink the soup, you know that this bowl of mutton soup is truly brewed for many hours!

IMG_0243

So what’s there in a bowl of this mixed soup? There is Mutton meat, mutton leg, mutton organ and mutton rib! :) one bowl for $7! Hai yo,i thought it would include the brain and tongue… but the man forgot to ask me! So i am SO gonna go back and try the $12 mix soup (with brain and tongue!)

IMG_0245

Oh well, the uncles are really nice and friendly! See that big pot? It resemble those pots found in the wicked witch’s house in all fairytales! A gleams into the pot?

IMG_0251_1 IMG_0250

and there was a pot of this…

IMG_0247_1

and lastly, let the menu tell you the prices!

IMG_0248

Okay enough of this kaming soup! hahahaha… i am craving for it once again! :(

Bruno's Pizzeria & Grill @ Tanjong Katong

Last Friday, randomly i asked a few of my heads for dinner at Tanjong Katong! Well, everyone was rather sian when i say we are heading to the East! But to support me, they gave in and here we are!

Bruno’s is a Italian restaurant located at Tanjong Katong… They sell affordable decent Italian food… For those Italian food lover, this is the place where you can satisfy your craving without burning a big hole in your pocket!

The place is rather small, so if you are visiting, do remember to make reservation! I love this place, it is small, cozy and warm! When you step in, you will be welcome by the friendly staff… and the nice table setting! :)

IMG_0277

Next up, as usual for European restaurant, there is bread! my favorite! I love bread with olive oil!!! Their bread is super nice! Soft and fluffy and yummy!

IMG_0279

Mushroom Soup rating: 2 / 5

IMG_0281

This mushroom soup is totally thick! I would call it minced mushroom than mushroom soup! haahaahaa… i still prefer soup spoon mushroom soup! Their soup range from $10 to $20… If i never remember wrongly, they have 4 kinds of soup available! :)

Seafood Soup with White Wine rating: 3.5 / 5

IMG_0286

Their friendly staffs are really nice!~ They overheard that I am sharing the soup with my friend, they actually suggest to portion out the soup for both of us! SO NICE RIGHT! The picture above shows a half portion soup! I love the seafood! Super fresh and the soup is nice with some white wine taste!

Seafood Salad rating: 2.5 / 5

IMG_0284

This seafood salad is very fresh! They use olive oil for their salad toss… There is too much olive oil, but overall still pretty okay. I think the best salad i have so far is still Cedele! :) Still, with the left over olive oil, i dip my bread and clear it all!

Crabmeat Linguine rating: 3 / 5

IMG_0289

This spaghetti is full of crabmeat! Nope, not those red stick crab meat hor… It is real crab meat! Overall the taste is … special! I love the sauce they use, the crab meat is fresh and the combine taste is YUM! Too much can be a little ‘Ni’… So i would recommend to share this dish!

King Prawn Linguine rating: 3.5 / 5

IMG_0300

I know this ‘mai xiang’ not very de nice… but it is GOOD! The prawn is super fresh! The portion is big! Enough for two!!! The taste of the spaghetti has full flavor of the prawn! O you people, must try this! i highly recommend this for those prawn lover! :)

Chicken Linguine rating: 2.5 / 5

IMG_0301

This chicken linguine is normal… The sauce is good, just that the overall is normal… I prefer seafood much more than chicken… BIAS! haaahaaa… but still… we clear this plate!

Beef steak rating: 3.5 / 5

IMG_0291

I really am not sure which steak my friend order, cos i was busy talking to my long time no see friend! This steak is really nice! I love the meat! It is tender and easy to chew! I told my friend at least 4 times i wanna try it!!!!

  • MC: Jeffery, i wanna try!
  • MC: Jeffrey, i help En Chun to try!
  • MC: Jeffrey, i help Khloe to try!
  • MC: Jeffrey, i help Sally to try!

i think i ate 1/3 of his steak! hahahaha… to do some justification to myself, this picture is not taken by me! hahahaa… i so pro, this pic not my style! hahahaha… ‘lao wang mai gua, zi mai zi kua’

Pizza

IMG_0298

BIAS TO THE MAX~ i cannot rate pizza, cos i generally hate pizza! so i would not comment much… the portion is big and my friends said that it is not bad… but not for me lah… i really really hate pizza! haahaaahaa… so i shall…. shhh…

Overall, i would recommend you to this Bruno’s place! Their price is affordable , the environment is good and the food is good! The location is a bit wu lu, somewhere near ‘with pinch of salt’…

Tampopo at Takashimaya

Have you tried Tampopo Restaurant? I heard that it is has one of the best ramen in Singapore! Last wed, after work my colleagues and i decided to drive down to Takashimaya for a good dinner!  Tada ~

After flipping through the menu, i was really tortured! Why? I wanted to try everything! Have you ever felt this way too? Too many items on the menu, and everything looks good, yummlicious and you really really want to try every single dish! haahaahaa ~ i guess this is call ‘Gluttony

IMG_0210_1

hahaha i know i always like to start my blog with the random stuff i found on the table! okay are you ready? yum yum here i come!

IMG_0212

Oh yah! First thing first, i love their service! ;) I was a super troublesome customer, changed my order twice, can’t make up my mind what i really want! This is my love hate dilemma when it comes to ordering food! hahaha… Their noodle came really fast! I was famish after traveling all the way from the west to town! thumbs up for their service!

Shabu Ramen @ $14.30

IMG_0217_1

I love the shabu shabu! Its tender, sweet and easy to bite! The soup has this miso soup taste! The ramen is rather different, more ‘Q’ and a little harder than those usual ones! Thumbs up for the shabu shabu! Portion is just nice, not too much, not too little… :)

Egg @ $1.80

IMG_0215

All ramen must come with their famous egg! I love these eggs! The egg yolk is super delicious as it goes into your mouth! wow! thinking of it makes me hungry again!

Tonkatsu Ramen @ $15.90

IMG_0220

Next up, it is mine! Hooray!!! Okay the soup base is really spicy, i love those spring onion that goes with the noodle and the soup… The soup is totally different from the previous one.

 IMG_0222

The pork cutlet is rather normal, but i love the bread crumbs they used! It is crispy and thin… and that’s mean you get loads of meat!

IMG_0232

One more picture to make you salivate! hahahaha.. *evil grin* ;)

Prawn & Loin Set @ $22

IMG_0233_1

This set is really expensive hor! ohmytian! I love the prawn! my colleagues mentioned that the prawns are better than their cutlet! Love their tar tar sauce! What i really like about this set, is their rice! Li Li Jie Xin Gu! haahaahaa.. the watermelon is also very sweet! Just a bit pricy… ;)

IMG_0234_1

The yummy Japanese rice! :)

IMG_0235

Layer Pork cutlet @ $15

IMG_0227

Flipping through the menu, we saw these varieties of layered pork cutlet… There are many different flavors and we decided to try the most original one!

IMG_0224

IMG_0226

The layered pork cutlet is softer than the usual one… Overall the taste is the same… I really love this pork cutlet! The price a bit pricy… but i felt it is really all worth it! Next time, if there is chance, i would love to try their other flavors! So tempting, thinking of their prawn flavor! :)

Overall, i love this Tampopo… I would love to come back again to try other flavors of their pork cutlets. I would also love to try their char siew ramen… Next time, if you happen to visit this place, drop me a email on your comment! :) Love to hear from you! Goodah bye~

Old Town White Coffee - Suntec

IMG_0162

Today my friends and I decided to visit Old Town White Coffee Cafe for maken, so we walked a loooongggg distance to a very wu lu area of Suntec and had our lunch!

I heard many good praises from this Old Town cafe, from their food to their coffee! On the way there, my friend commented that their coffee powder is imported from Ipoh, so worth a try! Maybe because of that, my hopes are high…

Anyway, we ordered the following:

Dry Ipoh Hor Fun @ $6.20

IMG_0149

Overall, for this Dry Hor Fun, it is normal, the noodle is a little too soggy and watery. The ingredient is… as you can see… haiz… a little disappointed…

Food rating: 2.0 / 5.0

Spicy Chicken Rice @ $8.80

IMG_0164

Spicy Chicken Rice, isn’t it suppose to be spicy? First it is not spicy, then the rice is a little hard with no chicken rice taste. The only thing i like about this dish is it’s garnish! Those turnip with the special sauce is refreshing… Other than that, nothing too fanciful…

Food rating: 2.5 / 5.0

Hainanese Chicken Rice @ $8.80

IMG_0166

It look really similar to the Spicy Chicken Rice above, just the garnishing is different… They use peas, carrots and corns to replace… :(

Food Rating: 2.0 / 5.0

Javanese Mee @ $7.20

IMG_0157

Okay, i didn’t really try this… but the looks is really not that bad! :) A little like Mee Rubus! Share with me how it taste! I would love to share with everyone here!

Food Styling: 4.0 / 5.0

Rendang Chicken Rice @ $8.50

IMG_0165

My friend commented that the rice is fragrant, but the Rendang is not spicy enough… I would say, a little too pricy for this small little portion! I think my ah ma sells cheaper than this! haahaa… #sosingaporean!

Food Rating: 3.0 / 5.0

Dry Curry Egg Noodle @ $7.20

IMG_0143

Seriously, it is just ordinary wanton noodle comes with curry sauce and a little potato! When they serve the dish, the only comment i can hear across the table is “SO LITTLE AR!” Although it comes with a bowl of soup with two fried wanton… it really doesn’t help making you feel better spending so much on wonton noodle!

Food Rating: 2.5 / 5.0

Curry Puff Basket @ $2.20

IMG_0170

Lastly i must blogged about the very pathetic small curry puff! Okay, right now look at your palm, each curry puff is really half your palm size! Buay Ta Han! I almost fainted when i saw how tiny are they!

Oh well, i hope the drinks are more comforting, but it is really not that fantastic… maybe it is not to my personal liking…

Teh Tarik (hot) @ $2.20

IMG_0151

Hazelnut White Coffee @ $6.40!

IMG_0152

Xi Mut Milk Tea @ $2.20

IMG_0161

Honey Lemon $3.20

IMG_0168

Overall, i think the price is a little too pricy! The portion is a little way too little for the price! The service is really really really bad, i got stares and roll eyes from the waitress and waiter when we block they way as we take our group photo… The most laughable moment is when the cashier ask if the food and service is okay, and he start giving the ‘I really don’t care’ face! Then why bother to ask right?

Well… I would give it a second thought when i visit Old Town Cafe again… The coffee is not bad, but seriously for the price, it is way too much! Given the service is so bad, receiving free stares and rolling of eyes entertainment… The 10% service charge is really worth it hor! Anyway thats it folks!
