Alexandra Village Hawker is located opposite Queensway Shopping Center. It had just went through a major renovation, and now its so much cooler and cleaner! :D

 

On my way there, I was thinking of the delicious Teow Chew Fish Ball Noodle and the Teow Chew Cai Fan that I used to eat during lunch hours! Boohoo! Sadly, I found out from other stall owners that both stalls owner had retired…

你们真是没口福啊！

Anyway, I am going to introduce to you a few of the famous stalls that have been around! :)

ZHEN SHAN MEI CLAYPOT LAKSA

Before you got to enjoy this Depot Laksa, you would need to join in the LONG queue under the HOT sun, savoring the smell while waiting. How torturing right?

Ta Da ~ Finally it’s my turn!

The Laksa gravy is thick and the gravy is very 香~ … Okay at first glance, I thought it looks more like curry noodle though.

So what’s inside this pot of Laksa? Tau Pok that totally absorbed the Laksa gravy! Fish Cake, Shredded Chicken and of course the main 主角 Cockles ‘Hum’…

Well, I personally felt that the Laksa is over-rated by many. ‘Hum’ is pathetically little (I think I found only 2 to 3 pieces)… The gravy is nice, but it just don’t have the traditional Laksa taste that will lingers in your mouth. Overall, it taste more like a bowl of Claypot Curry Noodle. ;)

TIONG BAHRU LIEN FA SHUI JING PAU

This stall the main 主角 is their Crystal Dumpling - 水晶包… Do come either early or call to order in advance! I had to wait 30min for these 4 水晶包.

3 main flavors: Original Vegetable / Yam paste / Red Bean

I mainly ordered the sweet flavors, Yam paste and Red Bean paste. They are like the perfect dessert, not too sweet yet satisfying! The skin is thin, so it is not 粘牙 and the paste inside is really thick ‘Gao Gao’! Personally, I really like their crystal dumpling!

ABC Bricks Food Centre

 

ABC Market is located behind IKEA Queensway outlet, among blocks of HDB flats. Seriously, I am SO VERY excited about going ABC Food Centre! Why?

Because, I heard so much about Fatty Cheong at ABC Market from my cousin, read so much on blogs and it was said to be

“SO FAR THE BEST IN SGP”

and now I am so excited to try it myself!

We ordered the usual Roasted Duck Rice (烧鸭饭) & Roasted Pork and Charsiew Rice (叉烧烧肉饭)!

CharSiew Rice (叉烧烧肉饭): the Roasted Pork is awesomely good! The skin is really crispy and the meat is very tender! While the CharSiew is not too hard, goes perfectly well with the black sauce! Oh my tian, the sauce is awesome!

Roasted Duck Rice (烧鸭饭): The roasted duck meat is tender and 很有咬劲！Skin is crispy, taste like just out from oven! Portion is big enough to make one feels full and the sauce goes perfectly well with the duck meat too!

 

Genesis on Fatty Cheong:
Owner of Fatty Cheong laughed and told us that he is not Mr. Cheong. His name is Mr. Chan Tuck Cheong. (For chinese specking group, we normally address someone by the last character of their name. Example, your name is Zhen Mei Li, people would address you as Li.) Back to the story, Cheong started the business in 1992, after his trip to Hong Kong. While he was in HK, he learned the art of roasting meat from a “Si Fu” (master) 肥牛. He even come up with a specialty X.O. Roasted Duck.
